Summer Study in Italy and 3 Ten-Day Tours for Summer 2005
Freehold, New Jersey

The purpose of the International Education Consortium (IEC) is to foster, build and strengthen the educational learning of students through the study of educational programs in Italy, that will enhance the participant's understanding and awareness of the rich culture, traditions and positive achievements that Italy has contributed to American, western and world civilization. In light of this endeavor, the educational organization has organized an impressive study abroad program for the Summer 2005.

The international academic summer program is based in an existing state-of-the-art facility in Rome, Italy, and offers courses for both graduate and undergraduate credit in the following areas: Art, Elementary to Advanced Italian, Business Law, Doing Business in the European Union, Culinary and Italian Culture and Civilization Courses. The faculty is composed of both experienced, English-speaking and Italian-speaking Professors with advanced credentials in their respective fields of study. Students do not need to speak Italian to join the program.

In addition, the IEC will offer a $50 discount for any student signing up for the 2005 Study Abroad Program, prior to December 31, 2004.

The IEC is also planning three Non-Credit Tours for the 2005 Ten Day Rome, Italy program. The first tour will begin on Monday, July 4th and end on Wednesday, July 13, 2005. The second tour will begin on Monday, July 18th and end on Wednesday, July 27, 2005. The third tour will begin on Monday, August 1, 2005 and end on Wednesday, August 10, 2005. The IEC will also offer a $50 discount for any participant signing up for the 2005 ten-day Non-Credit Program, prior to December 31, 2004.

Included in this wonderful ten-day extravaganza will be roundtrip group transportation to and from Rome airport to the luxurious 4-star hotel (Mecenate Palace Hotel), paid admission to no less than four museums, and a special privileged tour of the Pope’s private chapel.

Real Stories: Discrimination and Defamation in the History of Italian Americans Conference
South Orange, New Jersey

On Saturday, December 4, 2004, the Charles and Joan Alberto Italian Studies Institute of Seton Hall University will be hosting a day-long conference on discrimination and defamation in the history of Italian Americans. The conference has been organized jointly by the Anti-Bias Committee of UNICO National and the Joseph M. and Geraldine C. La Motta Chair in Italian Studies at Seton Hall University. Major sponsors of this event are NIAF, the NJ Italian American Heritage Commission, the Columbus Citizens Foundation, the Order of the Sons of Italy in America and UNICO National. Additional support is being provided by the Center for Italian and Italian American Culture and the American Italian Historical Association.

This will be the first major academic conference, organized on a national scale, to be devoted specifically to the theme of discrimination against Italian Americans. There will be panel discussions involving prominent historians, politicians, entertainers, media critics, and representatives of the major Italian American organizations that respond to discrimination and defamation. The program will also include the showing of a historical documentary and book exhibits. Lunch and a closing reception will be provided.

Every effort is being made to preserve the record of this important occasion. The conference is being videotaped for a documentary. There will be an accompanying book of essays and studies on the history of discrimination against Italian Americans. And a historical website to document discrimination against Italian Americans is being developed.

D’Italia Programs, Inc. and Verona Unico present:
"Buon Natale! Christmas Italian Style!"
Bloomfield, New Jersey

D’Italia Programs, Inc. and Verona Unico have organized a family event featuring traditional music, dancing, arts and crafts for this Christmas. You will able to have your photo taken with Babbo Natale and meet La Befana. There will be treats at the café and a special performance of "Bambini d’Italia" – children’s singing and dancing ensemble.

The event will take place on Sunday, December 12th from 2-4pm at the Verona Community Center, 800 Bloomfield Ave., Verona, New Jersey and cost $3 for children and $5 for adults.
