Hackensack Columbus Day Parade

Sunday October 5, 2008:
We urge all Unicans to participate in the Columbus Day Parade of North Jersey to be held in Hackensack, NJ.
Marchers are to assemble at 10 AM and the parade will start at 11 AM at the Bergen County Court House and travel up Main and State Streets ending at Passaic Street whereby a full-day street festival along Main Street will take place.
The National President has made an effort to offer UNICO National’s participation in as many events as possible. Please bring and march with your chapter and district banners.

We are offering a $100 grant to chapters that have sponsored over head street banners bringing awareness to “October is Italian Heritage and Culture Month” and incorporating this theme into related events.

CLARK--The Clark chapter of UNICO announced the second annual Italian American Feast to be held in Clark during Columbus Day weekend, Oct. 10, 11, and 12 in the parking lot on the recreation side of the municipal building, and also in front of the tennis courts.

Sunday October 12, 2008:
On Sunday, October 12, 2008, a number of parades will take place. We urge all Unicans to participate: in East Hanover, Nutley-Belleville, Hartford, Stamford, Chicago and any other Columbus Day Parade or activity. Please check with your local Chapter President or parade organization for staging and meeting information.
The Ocean County Parade will start at the Boulevard in Seaside Heights, NJ at 1:00 PM. Members and guests are to assemble at 12:00 Noon in Seaside Heights, NJ. Please check with parade officials for exact location.
The Nutley-Belleville Columbus Day Parade will be starting at 1:00 PM. Marchers are to gather at 12:00 PM at Nutley High School parking lot and will march towards Belleville.
Monday October 13, 2008:
We invite all UNICO members and their families to participate in this year's 64th Annual New York City Columbus Day Parade on Monday, October 13, 2008. Members and guests are to assemble at 12:00 Noon on 47th Street, west of 5th Avenue and see Chairman Ralph Contini and you will be inserted in the line of march.
A bus will be available, to and from New York City, for our members. The bus will leave the Fort Lee Recreation Center located at 1500 Stillwell Ave., Fort Lee, NJ at 11:00 AM sharp.
The UNICO float’s theme will continue to bring awareness to October as “Italian Heritage and Culture Month”, Columbus Highway and UNICO National charities. In order to comply with the safety rules imposed by the float company, we must limit the amount of people on the float. As a result, requests to ride on the float will be considered on a need basis in advance. Unless your request has been accepted please do not get on the float.
The parade marches up Fifth Avenue from 44th St. to 79th St. then turns right towards Third Avenue. The parade is a televised global event with millions of viewers and nearly one million spectators. It will be broadcast on NBC NY Channel 4 and RAI Int’l, from 12 Noon to 3:00 PM.
