On Saturday, October 28, 2006, as requested by Resolution of the 2nd NJ Congress of Italian American Organizations, the Commission will proudly host the 3rd NJ Congress of Italian American Organizations at Rutgers University in New Brunswick. Named the “New Jersey’s Italian Americans – Preserving Our Heritage through Education”, this convention will bring together many of the 400 Italian American organizations in New Jersey to discuss, coordinate and exchange ideas regarding the promotion of the Italian Heritage. The convention is a statewide opportunity to network with other organizations, schools and institutions, meet prominent decision-makers of the Italian American community and to “get the word out” regarding Italian and Italian American programs and events.
This annual event is attended by many of the state’s Italian American leaders, including business leaders, educators, legislators and Consuls of the Republic of Italy. Students, professionals and anyone with ties to Italy are welcomed as well!
We would like to invite you (and the membership of any Italian American organizations or groups to which you belong) to share in this collaboration. Congress participants will be able to take part in panels and break-out discussions that will include the promotion of Italian Heritage, the support of Italian language and cultural programs and the enhancement of commercial and educational exchanges with Italy. We expect government officials to be present, so please join this effort to showcase the strength of your organization. We are looking to again gather over 500 people for this event.
If you are a member of an Italian American organization, we would encourage your organization to bring promotional materials for display at our exhibition tables, in order to inform other organizations of your activities. These tables are free of charge, however space is limited. Please notify us if you would care for a table.
Free Event – Display Tables, Breakfast & Lunch Included
The Congress will begin at 9 a.m. in the Rutgers University Student Center and will conclude at approximately 1 p.m., followed by lunch. Admission to this event is free, including breakfast and lunch.
