BELOVED NJ CONDUCTOR TO BID FARWELL TO CONCERT STAGE

BLOOMFIELD – On Saturday, May 24 at 3:00 P.M., beloved New Jersey musician, music teacher, and orchestral conductor Gabriel L. Nevola will raise his baton for the last time for the Bloomfield Mandolin Orchestra.  This special tribute concert, entitled “My Favorite Things,” will feature Maestro Nevola and orchestra members’ favorite original compositions, classical pieces, and Italian songs, as well as past featured guest performers and members of the renowned Nevola music family.  David Bauer will serve as Assistant Conductor.  Soloists will include Maria Melograno, soprano;  Melissa Matturro, pianist; Enrico Granafei, guitarist/vocalist; Kristine Massari, vocalist; Teresa Nevola Moyer, soprano; and David W. Mc Lean, baritone.  The Nevola Friends and Family Chorus, directed by Guest Conductor Stanley Nevola, will also be featured.  The performance will be held in the historic sanctuary of the Presbyterian Church On-the-Green, 147 Broad Street, in Bloomfield (across from Bloomfield High School).

The concert program will include Heaven Help Humanity (Gabriel L. Nevola), Adagio for Strings (Samuel Barber), With A Song in My Heart (Richard Rogers), Torna a Surriento (Ernesto di Capua), Air from Suite #3 (J.S. Bach), Tazz ‘e Café (V. Fazzone), Rusell ‘e Maggio (Enrico Cannio), Funiculi Funicula (Luigi Denza), Ave Maria (Gabriel Nevola), Someone To Watch Over Me (George Gershwin), My Favorite Things (Richard Rogers), Juanita My Love (Gabriel L. Nevola), Prayer for Peace (Gabriel L. Nevola), La Paloma (Sebastian Yradi Bacci), and The Lord Bless and Keep You (Peter C. Lutkin). 

Reserved Seating  is $15 and General Seating is $8.  Tickets may be ordered through orchestra President Carol Franz by calling 973-746-3203 or  e-mailing cjfranz20@verizon.net.  A Discount General Seating Rate of $5 is available for Senior Citizens and Students. This performance is part of a year round concert series sponsored by the Bloomfield Federation of Music, under the auspices of the Bloomfield Recreation Commission, Anthony Nesto, Director.
