Rudy Giuliani Visits South Jersey

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani will speak at a special engagement at the Commerce Bank Arts Centre on May 3 at 7:00 p.m. Giuliani, Time Magazine’s Person of the Year in 2001, will discuss among other topics the principles of leadership, which he details in his book, Leadership, published in 2002. During this engagement, he will share the important lessons he learned as the Mayor of New York City and during his lifetime of public service. He will discuss how he drew upon these experiences on September 11, 2001, to provide strength, encouragement and leadership at a defining moment in America’s history.

“Holiday Love and Madness”

La Famiglia is the focus as Real Life Ink Publishing House teams up with 12 Miles West Theatre Company in Bloomfield for an evening of "Holiday Love and Madness". Author Gerard Arduino kicks off the evening with a signing of his heartwarming new book, Holiday Love and Madness: Scenes From My Italian Childhood. Recounting his experiences growing up in a large Italian family in New Jersey, Arduino's coffeetable book "embraces the eccentricities that make families unique and holidays memorable", Erica Szymanski writes in Passaic Valley Today. Its sweetly "nostalgic yearning
for the simplicity of childhood" makes it the perfect opening for the play that follows, My Italy Story, by Joseph Gallo, another New Jersey native.
Follow one man's odyssey to the town in Italy where his grandparents are from as he makes a connection to his ancestors in an effort to heal a rift in his family. A funny yet touching tale, "My Italy Story tells the story of every family," explains playwright Joseph Gallo, "and you don't have to be Italian to enjoy it!" he adds. The New York Times said of My Italy Story, "anyone who has ever been part of a large family is bound to
respond! Filled with humor and a gallery of vivid characters, all given life with charm and finesse." The show, directed here by Frank Licato, had a critically acclaimed Off-Broadway run at the 47th Street Theatre in Manhattan and was nominated for the Gay Talese Literary Prize. It promises to be a fun-filled evening all around.
The book signing will begin at 7 PM on Thursday night, May 18th.
