Curriculum Development Committee
Rationale
The Curriculum Development Committee (CDC) was established to coordinate and implement the state-approved Curriculum Project of the Commission. This objective, which is detailed in the state legislation, allows for the CDC to promote, train and evaluate the curriculum program to school districts throughout the state of New Jersey.
Description
The Curriculum Development Committee (CDC) works in close coordination with the Department of Education to develop and disseminate a curriculum entitled “The Universality of Italian Heritage” to the New Jersey school system. The CDC develops the curriculum model, develops the lesson plans and other teaching materials, trains teachers for using the curriculum, markets the product to NJ school systems and develops supplementary materials for use in conjunction with the Curriculum Model.
Mission
“The purpose of the Curriculum Development Committee is to research, develop and disseminate an educational curriculum, curriculum guidelines and teaching materials for use in high schools and institutions of higher education in the State of New Jersey, as well as social and cultural organizations and members of the public at large. This curriculum shall be for the study of the culture, history and heritage and language of Italians and Americans of Italian heritage.”
